Chapter 6 Part IV -- Taxes

Taxes will raise the price paid by consumers, decrease the price received by sellers, and lower the quantity bought and sold. The tax burden is shared by firms and consumers, and it doesn't matter who actually hands over the money -- the relative elasticities of supply and demand will determine who bears what proportion of the tax burden.
